PowerStore: RestAPI CAVA configuration limitation

Summary: CAVA configuration limitation upon using RestAPI and PowerStore Manager, which was introduced in PowerStoreOS version 4.0.

This article applies to This article does not apply to This article is not tied to any specific product. Not all product versions are identified in this article.

Symptoms

There is a limitation of thirteen extensions, for file extensions to exclude and file extensions to scan, when using RestAPI. Upon reaching this limitation, only the last thirteen values are in effect.

This limitation also affects CAVA configuration using PowerStore Manager, as it uses the RestAPI as well.

Cause

In past PowerStore versions, CAVA configuration was only supported by the CAVA Config Upload or Download options. There was no RestAPI support.
Starting in PowerStoreOS version 4.0, the configuration of CAVA over RestAPI was implemented. The RestAPI and the PowerStore Manager, which uses the RestAPI interface, have a limit of thirteen values in file extensions to exclude and file extensions to scan fields even though the actual system limit is 50 extensions.

Resolution

In order to exceed this limitation, CAVA should be configured using the Upload or Download configuration file.

To modify the CAVA parameters when there are more than thirteen extensions that are required, use the Upload or Download configuration CAVA file.
