PowerStore: LDAPS authentication fails after NDU to PowerStoreOS 4.0.x (User correctable)
Summary: PowerStoreOS 4.0.x is enforced to use TLS 1.2 and reduces the number of supported cipher suites from 33 to 4. If the LDAPS server does not support the cipher suite used by the PowerStore, the LDAPS connection cannot be established. ...
Symptoms
The LDAPS connection between the PowerStore and LDAPS server is broken after upgrading to PowerStoreOS 4.0.x. As a result, LDAP users are unable to log in to the PowerStore UI.
The "Verify Connection" in UI fails with error “LDAP domain connection error (0xE0906001000B)”.
Cause
Starting from PowerStoreOS 4.0.x, PowerStore only supports four cipher suites in TLS1.2 according to Dell Security Policy.
Cipher Suite: TLS_ECDHE_ECDSA_WITH_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (0xc02c)
Cipher Suite: TLS_ECDHE_ECDSA_WITH_AES_128_GCM_SHA256 (0xc02b)
Cipher Suite: TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (0xc030)
Cipher Suite: TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_AES_128_GCM_SHA256 (0xc02f)
If the LDAP server does not support any of the above cipher suites, the LDAPS handshake between the PowerStore and the LDAP server will fail and the LDAPS connection cannot be established.
Prior to PowerStoreOS 4.0.x, the PowerStore supported the following 33 cipher suites.
Cipher Suite: TLS_ECDHE_ECDSA_WITH_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (0xc02c)
Cipher Suite: TLS_ECDHE_ECDSA_WITH_AES_128_GCM_SHA256 (0xc02b)
Cipher Suite: TLS_ECDHE_ECDSA_WITH_CHACHA20_POLY1305_SHA256 (0xcca9)

Resolution
Workaround:
Switch from LDAPS to LDAP connection.
Permanent fix:
Enable one of the following 4 cipher suites on the LDAP server.
Cipher Suite: TLS_ECDHE_ECDSA_WITH_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (0xc02c)
Cipher Suite: TLS_ECDHE_ECDSA_WITH_AES_128_GCM_SHA256 (0xc02b)
Cipher Suite: TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (0xc030)
Cipher Suite: TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_AES_128_GCM_SHA256 (0xc02f)
How to determine which cipher suite is enabled on an LDAP server.
From PowerStore CLI with root injected or a Linux client with nmap installed:
nmap --script ssl-enum-ciphers -p 636 <LDAP server name or IP>
If the LDAPS server is a Windows Domain controller, the following Powershell command can list the cipher suites installed on the server.
Get-TlsCipherSuite |findstr Name
