Symptoms


Follow the guidelines provided in this article to resolve an issue with Microsoft Windows not activating and generating an error code: 0xC004F034.

Cause


Windows 0xC004F034 error.

A Windows 0xC004F034 error is occurring on systems shortly after the completion of the Out of Box Experience (OOBE).

Investigation of the error gives the explanation that the Microsoft activation servers are busy.

This error occurs due to a change in the activation process requiring a specific Windows update installation during the activation process for completion of the activation handshake. When this process fails, a 0xC004F034 error may occur.

Resolution


Solution.

Usually, this issue is resolved by utilization of the Windows Activation troubleshooter.

NOTE: Use an account with administrator privileges to use this tool.

In Windows 10, you can utilize the Activation troubleshooter by selecting the Start button, then select Settings > then Update and security in the Settings window > select the Activation option, and then select Troubleshoot.

NOTE: Windows 8 Home and Windows 10 Education will require a reboot after completion of the troubleshooter before attempting to activate the system again.
