Dell OLED Monitors Have Fan Noise

Fan noise may be heard from Dell OLED monitors. The fan can still be heard briefly after the monitors are turned off or put to sleep.

• Alienware 34 240 Hz QD-OLED Gaming Monitor AW3425DW
• Dell 32 Plus 4K QD-OLED Monitor S3225QC

All Dell OLED monitors have a fan to dissipate heat and prevent overheating. The speed of the fan changes according to the internal and ambient temperature level. When the monitor is turned off or goes to sleep, there might be some internal processing like Pixel Refresh that has not been completed.

The fan can still be heard while this happens and this is not a defect in the monitor. All monitors are designed to meet industry acoustic standards.

Normal Fan Behavior

This is the expected behavior of the Dell OLED monitors. The fans are required to protect the monitor from overheating and follow the industry standard sound pressure level specifications (< 32 decibels).

Ensure that nothing is blocking the ventilation vents of the monitor and use the monitor at normal viewing distance (typically 50 cm from the screen).
