Symptoms
Configuration of replica protection job fails with the following error message:
CFG0001: TSDM_TEST_PROD: Unable to configure the protection policy because of the following error: Failed to connect to the storage system. Storage unit=Replication_Test user=Replication_Test_DDBoost_user errorNum: 5034 errorMessage: The user has insufficient privilege.
Cause
The DD Boost authentication and encryption settings do not match between the source and target DD systems. PPDM requires matching replication encryption and authentication settings on both DDs. By default, PPDM configures replication encryption as enabled and authentication-mode as two-way. If the target DD does not match these settings, the connection fails with error 5034.
Resolution
Step 1 — Check the Current DD Settings
- Log in to the CLI on both the source and target DD systems.
- Check the file replication options:
ddboost file-replication option show - Check the DD Boost options:
ddboost option show - Compare the replication encryption and authentication-mode settings between both systems.
Step 2 — Configure the Required Settings
- Determine the DD OS version on both systems.
- For DD OS 7.10 and earlier: Enable replication encryption and set authentication-mode to two-way on both systems.
- For DD OS later than 7.10: Enable replication encryption on both systems.
- To enable these settings through the DD UI on DD OS 7.10 or later, navigate to Protocols → DD Boost → More Tasks → Set Options.
Step 3 — Retry Policy Configuration
- Return to the PPDM UI. Retry the protection policy configuration with replication.
- Confirm the policy configures successfully without the 5034 error.
