Symptoms

Attempts to add vCenter with Unity fail with error "Incorrect Network Name or Address - Error Code: 409."

Pinging the vCenter Internet Protocol (IP) address succeeds and vCenter Admin credentials are valid.

Cause

Unity requires ports 8443 and 443 to be open for successful communication with vCenter.

The spx/EMC/CEM/log/cemtracer.log may show the following error:

This indicates that there is an issue with establishing a connection to the vCenter on port 443. As of vSphere 6.7 U3 and higher, port 8443 is deprecated by Broadcom/VMware.
