Symptoms

See the example below.

Cause

This can happen if there are Oracle Databases in oratab that do not exist on the Oracle system.

Resolution

If the database is a valid database:
  1. Start that Oracle database.
If the database does not exist on the Oracle system:
  1. Delete the inactive database (ORACLE_SID) from the oratab file.
  2. Set the EXCLUDE_SID parameter to exclude that ORACLE_SID from the discovery in the RMAN Agent Configuration

The default location of the RMAN Agent configuration file is:
/home/oracle/opt/dpsapps/rmanagent/config/rman_agent.cfg
Starting with PowerProtect Data Manager 19.14, the IGNORE_ORATAB_INACTIVE_SID parameter can be enabled in the RMAN Agent configuration file.

This allows ddbmcon to ignore the inactive ORACLE_SID database in the oratab file.
