Data Domain: Egypt resumed enforcing Daylight Saving Time (DST) as of 28th April 2023
Sammendrag: Egypt has had its first change in time in 7 years due to applying DST (Daylight Saving Time) once again. DDOS time zone databases may not be updated yet to reflect this change.

Symptomer
Egypt has reintroduced Daylight Savings Time (DST) to start on 28th April until 27th October 2023.
Time changes are handled using a time zone database which shipped with the running DD OS at the time of the release was built.
The time change which occurred on 28th April 2023 will not be automatically made in the DDOS.
This will occur with future time zone changes until Dell releases DDOS updates with an updated time zone database.
Logs and scheduled jobs which are started by the DD (such as clean) may be off by one hour.
This will be the case until the time reverts on 27th October 2023, or until upgrading to a DDOS version with the updated time zone definition.

Årsak
In 2023, Egypt switched to Daylight Savings Time. The DDOS time zone database had not been upgraded yet.
Oppløsning
Until DDOS is updated, customers may upgrade to the updated time zone database,
For DDs which are not using NTP, the customer may set the correct time manually.
Since the change in April 2023 sets the clock one hour further, this should be good with the Data Domain, and not cause any issues.
If doing the change back in October 2023, some Data Domain models may experience File system down due to "time jumped backwards". This occurs if manually changing the time back.
For Data Domains using NTP, this protocol syncs with time servers according to UTC time (Universal Time Coordinated). The host is the one adjusting according to the time zone definition.
Until the time zone definition is updated, the time will be off by one hour.
As of May 9 2023, updated time zone data definitions have been added to the upcoming DDOS 7.12 release. Updates for existing DDOS code families will be made in the future.
