Symptoms

Unknown disk(s) displayed in CLI output without any active alerts

Cause

DD3300 appliances reserve certain disks for Cloud Tier functionality. If Cloud Tier is not activated, these reserved disks are shown as unknown in the system state.

The number or devices reserved depends on the DD3300 configuration. As below:
kA23a0000000AUiCAM_1_0

Resolution

  • This is normal system behavior.
  • The unknown disks are reserved for Cloud Tier and remain in this state until Cloud Tier is enabled.
  • No action is required unless Cloud Tier activation is planned.
