Customer Notice: Installation of the 2025 R1 OS Security Rollup May Fail on Avamar Data Store Gen4T and Gen4S Multi-Node Systems
Summary: Installation of the 2025 R1 OS Security Rollup may fail on Dell Avamar Data Store Gen4T and Gen4S multinode systems.
Symptoms
An issue has been identified in Dell Avamar Data Store environments running Gen4T and Gen4S hardware. The 2025 R1 OS Security Rollup may fail during reboot on nonutility nodes, leaving storage nodes offline and disrupting the installation process.
Cause
A failure to install the GRand Unified Bootloader (GRUB2) on Gen4T and Gen4S storage nodes causes this issue. When this occurs, the operating system is unable to boot correctly, leaving the affected nodes offline. Customers are advised not to install the 2025 R1 OS Security Rollup on any multinode Avamar Data Store Gen4T or Gen4S systems.
Resolution
Customers can resolve this issue by installing the 2025 R2 OS Security Rollup.
