Data Domain: XML format license already applied on the system, non-XML format license not allowed

Symptoms
When attempting to apply a license file to a Data Domain system, the following error is displayed:
"XML format license already applied on the system. Switching to non-XML format license not allowed"
Cause
Starting with DDOS 7.12 and later, Data Domain systems require licenses in.xml format. Systems running DDOS 7.11 and earlier use the legacy.lic format. Applying a non-XML license to a system that already uses XML licensing is not supported.
Resolution
Customers, Partners, and Internal users with access to Software Licensing Central (SLC) can self-service the conversion of a license from .lic to .xml format using the Regenerate Keys workflow.

When using the Regenerate Keys workflow, select "v7.12 and above" to generate the XML-format license file.

If self-service regeneration is unavailable or access to SLC is not available, contact the Dell Licensing Team for assistance obtaining the required XML license file.
