Data Domain: How to Apply an ELMS License to a Data Domain
Summary: Applying an ELMS License to a DD or DDVE may be performed using the DD System Manager or DD CLI.
Instructions
Once the customer receives the .lic file for Data Domain (DD) from the licensing team, the following steps must be performed for updating the license for DD or DDVE. Latest license format DD is .xml. After applying a .xml license file, the DD no longer accepts .lic license files.
Regenerate: The regenerate option re-creates any missing or out-of-sync license keys that are installed on the system. It also helps convert existing licenses to the new .XML license format. The process requires searching for existing licenses based on the system Locking ID. Specify system details and follow the steps provided. At the end of the process, the requested license key is available. Save the key to a file and use DDSM or the CLI to update your system license information.
The SLC documentation, available from Dell Software Licensing Central, provides additional information.
