Overview of Dell Update Package

A Dell Update Package (DUP) is a self-contained executable (EXE) in a standard package format that updates a single software element on the system.

By using DUPs, you can

  • Update various system components.
  • Apply scripts across similar sets of Dell systems to bring them up to the same version levels.
  • Install device drivers in interactive and noninteractive modes.
  • Apply individual updates to a system by using an interactive Command-Line Interface(CLI).
  • Perform multiple updates on a system using noninteractive commands using CLI.
  • Schedule updates of operating system and software distribution utilities remotely.

iDRAC and Lifecycle Controller has a common DUP update on Dell PowerEdge 14th generation and later servers. Operating system collector inventory and update support are available in PowerEdge 14G and later servers.
