Removing the System Board

  1. Follow the procedures in Before Working Inside Your Computer .
  2. Remove:
    1. battery

    2. optical-disk drive

    3. access panel

    4. hard drive

    5. WLAN card

    6. memory module

    7. keyboard

    8. base cover

  3. Perform the following steps as shown in the illustration:
    1. Lift to release the locking tab [1].
    2. Disconnect the touchpad and power button cable [2].

  4. Perform the following steps as shown in the illustration:
    1. Lift the locking tab [1].
    2. Disconnect the display assembly cable [2].
    3. Unroute the display assembly cable [3].

  5. Perform the following steps as shown in the illustration:
    1. Remove the screw that secures the power connector to the computer [1].
    2. Unroute the power connector cable [2].

  6. Perform the following steps as shown in the illustration:
    1. Remove the screw that secures the system board to the chassis [1].
    2. Lift and remove the system board from the chassis [2].
