Dell SONiC switches running Enterprise SONiC 4.4.0 and above start failing REST polling API and gNMI telemetry after approximately 365 days. As an example, with eight switches, the issue repeatable after the default certificate lifetime elapses. A workaround is to restart the mgmt-framework and telemetry containers, which restores functionality. The resolution is to replace/renew the REST and telemetry host certificates and bind them properly using the Management Framework crypto/security-profile mechanism. SONiC certificate validity is determined by the certificate itself; it is not changeable using the CSR generation CLI.

Enterprise SONiC Distribution by Dell Technologies. In Free Range Routing (FRR), the local-as command is used to override the router’s global BGP Autonomous System (AS) number for a specific neighbor, enabling flexible AS configurations without changing the global AS. However, if local-as is applied before the peer-group or remote-as association, the BGP session fails to establish. This is due to FRR’s strict command dependency order, which requires the peer-group or remote-as to be configured first.

Selected Dell PowerSwitch platforms include a Trusted Platform Module {TPM} that provides hardware-based encryption services to applications, such as UEFI Secure Boot. UEFI Secure Boot is a component of the BIOS that verifies and ensures the file integrity of the network operating system {NOS} to boot.
The Dell PowerSwitch includes TPM and has UEFI Secure Boot enabled by default in the BIOS to allow only signed NOSs to be installed successfully.

When using Ethernet Virtual Private Network (EVPN) MultiHoming (MH) with PortChannel interfaces running SONiC, customers may experience a delay or failure in MAC address synchronization across Virtual Tunnel End Points (VTEPs) during firewall failover scenarios. This issue was observed primarily with Fortinet FortiGate firewalls but can occur with other devices using similar failover mechanisms. The problem results in partial or complete traffic disruption until MAC tables converge, which can take up to 30 minutes without manual intervention. Resolution: Upgrade to SONiC 4.5.1, which disables kernel MAC learning and introduces fixes for duplicate address detection and router-ID consistency. Network stability confirmed after upgrading switches to SONiC 4.5.1 and FortiGate-200F v7.4.9, build2829,250924 (GA.M)
