Since the introduction of Clustered VMDK on VMFS datastores, applications like Windows Server Failover Cluster (WSFC) no longer require Raw Device Mappings (RDMs) to use SCSI‑3 persistent reservations (SCSI3‑PR). Because of this, Broadcom does not offer RDM support for the NVMeoF protocol. Customers using RDMs with the SDC who want to move to NVMe/TCP must convert those disks to VMDKs on a VMFS datastore with the Clustered VMDK property.
