Removal
Base Cover
Align the system with the outline to enable the AR lock.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the base cover to the system
Pry open the base cover from the smart-card reader slot at the bottom right side of the base cover.
Lift the base cover starting from the bottom edge and remove it from the system.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Heat sink assembly
Identify the heat sink assembly highlighted in blue.
Disconnect and peel the power adapter cable from the heat sink assembly.
Disconnect the two fan cables from the connectors on the system board.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the heat sink assembly. Loosen in reverse sequential order.
Lift the heat sink assembly to remove it from the system.
Use the alcohol pad to clean the thermal paste from the system board and heatsink (as shown in the video).
Power button board
Identify the power button board highlighted in blue.
Lift the latch and disconnect the power button board cable from the system board.
Peel the power button board cable from the palmrest.
Remove the screw that secures the power button board to the system.
Remove the power button board with the cable from the system.
Power button
Identify the power button highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the power button in its slot on the computer.
Remove the power button from the computer.
Install
Power button
Identify the power button location highlighted in blue.
Place the power button into its slot on the computer.
Install the screws to secure the power button.
Power button board
Identify the power button board location highlighted in blue.
Install the power button board into its slot using the alignment posts.
Install the screw to secure the power button board.
Adhere the power button board cable to the system.
Connect the cable to the system board. Close the latch to secure.
Heat sink assembly
Identify the heat sink location highlighted in blue.
Apply a pea sized amount of thermal material as shown. Replace thermal pads if needed.
Align and insert the heat sink assembly into its slot on the system.
Tighten the captive screws to secure the heat sink assembly. Tighten in sequential order.
Connect the two fan cables to the connector on the system board.
Adhere the power adapter cable on the heat sink assembly and connect the cable to its connector in system board.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the connector on the system board.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Slide the base cover into its slot until it clicks into place.
Tighten the captive screws to secure the base cover to the system.
