Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the base cover to the computer.
Pry open the base cover starting from the bottom right corner of the base cover.
Lift the base cover starting from the bottom edge and push it towards the rear to remove it from the system.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Using the pull tab, disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 20 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Heat Sink
Identify the heatsink highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the fan cables from the system board.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the heat sink to the system board.Loosen in reverse order.
Remove the screws that secure the fans to the system.
Lift the heatsink assembly from the palm rest.
Use the alcohol pad to clean the heatsink (as shown in the video).
GPU Power Cable
Identify the GPU power cable highlighted in blue.
Pry the outside end of the GPU power cable connector head to unlock the GPU power cable connector from the system board.
Slide the GPU power cable connector outward to disconnect it from the system board.
Pry the outside end of the GPU power cable connector head to unlock the GPU power cable connector from the GPU card.
Slide the GPU power cable connector outward to disconnect it from the GPU card.
Peel the GPU power cable from the system.
Install
GPU Power Cable
Identify the GPU power cable location highlighted in blue.
Adhere the GPU power cable into its slot on the system.
Connect the GPU power cable to the connector on the GPU card
Lock the GPU power cable connector on the GPU card.
Connect the GPU power cable to the connector on the system board on the top side of the computer.
Lock the GPU power cable connector on the system board.
Heat Sink
Identify the heatsink location highlighted in blue.
Apply a pea sized amount of thermal material as shown.
Align and place the heat sink assembly into its slot on the palm rest.
Tighten the captive screws to secure the heat sink to the system board.Tighten in order. Do not over tighten.
Install the screws to secure the fans to the system.
Connect the fan cables on the system board.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the connector on the system board.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Install the base cover into its slot until it clicks into place.
Tighten the captive screws to secure the base cover to the computer.
