Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Using a Torx #5, remove the screws that secure the base cover to the system.
Using a plastic scribe, pry open the base cover starting from the SD card slot on the base cover.
Continue prying around the bottom, left and right sides of the base cover.
Lift the bottom of the base cover and push it towards the rear of the system to remove it from the system.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the battery FPC bracket to the system board.
Lift the battery FPC bracket at an angle and remove it from the system
Disconnect the battery FPC cable from its connector on the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Battery
Identify the battery highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the battery to the system.
Lift the battery away from the system.
Solid State Drive (SSD)
VPU Card
Identify the VPU card highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the VPU card thermal bracket.
Remove the VPU card thermal plate from the system board.
Lift the VPU card bracket at an angle and slide to remove from its slot on the system.
Remove the screw that secures the VPU card to the VPU card bracket.
Remove the VPU card from the VPU card bracket.
Left Fan
Identify the left fan highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the left fan cable from the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the left fan to the system.
Slide and lift the left fan off the system.
Right Fan
Identify the right fan highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the right fan cable from the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the right fan to the system.
Slide and lift the right fan off the system.
Heat sink - UMA
Identify the heat sink highlighted in blue.
Loosen the screws that secure the heat sink to the system board. Loosen in reverse order.
Lift the heat sink from the system board.
Clean the thermal residue with alcohol wipe as indicated.
Heat sink - Discrete
Identify the heat sink highlighted in blue.
Loosen the screws that secure the heat sink to the system board. Loosen in reverse order.
Lift the heat sink from the system board.
Clean the thermal residue with alcohol wipe as indicated.
Heat sink - Vapor Chamber
Identify the heat sink highlighted in blue.
Loosen the screws that secure the heat sink to the system board. Loosen in reverse order.
Lift the heat sink from the system board.
Clean the thermal residue with alcohol wipe as indicated.
Graphics card
Identify the graphics card highlighted in blue.
Using a Torx #5, remove the screws that secure the graphics card FPC to the system.
Remove the graphics card FPC from the system.
Remove the two graphics card FPC interposer boards from the system.
Remove the screws that secure the graphics card bridge to the system.
Remove the graphics card bridge from the system.
Remove the screws that secure the PC bridge bracket to the system.
Remove the PC bridge bracket from the system.
Remove the screws that secure the graphics card to the system.
Remove the graphics card from the system.
Integrated WLAN Module
Identify the integrated WLAN module highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screw that secures the WLAN bracket on the system board.
Lift the WLAN bracket from the system board.
Disconnect the WLAN antenna cables from the WLAN module.
Unroute the antenna cables from the metal clips on the system board.
System Board
Identify the system board highlighted in blue.
Using a Torx #5, remove the screws that secure the display FPC cover on the system board.
Disconnect the display FPC cable from its connector on the system board.
Remove the interposer board from the system board.
Lift the latch and disconnect the SD card reader daughterboard cable from the connector.
Lift the latch and disconnect the haptics touchpad FPC cable from its connector on the haptics touchpad module.
Disconnect the left and right speaker cables from its connector on the system board.
Lift the latch and disconnect the power button with fingerprint reader and front LED cables from its connectors on the system board.
Peel the SD card reader daughterboard FPC and touchpad FPC cable from the system.
Remove the screws that secure the system board.
Remove the system board assembly from the system.
Flip the system board assembly and place on a clean flat surface.
Remove the screws that secure the SD card reader daughterboard FPC and touchpad cables to the system board.
Remove the SD card reader daughterboard FPC and touchpad cables from the system board.
After all the parts are removed, the system board is remaining.
Install
System Board
Identify the system board location highlighted in blue.
Place the system board on flat table, facing the system board bottom upwards.
Connect the SD card reader daughterboard FPC and touchpad cables to the system board.
Install the screws that secure the SD card reader daughterboard FPC and touchpad cables to the system board.
Flip the system board assembly.
Install the system board on the palmrest, using the alignment posts.
Install the screws to secure the system board.
Adhere the SD card reader daughterboard FPC and touchpad FPC cables on the palm rest assembly.
Connect the power button with the fingerprint reader and front LED cables to its connectors on the system board. Close the latch to secure.
Connect the left and right speaker cables to the connector on the system board.
Connect the haptics touchpad FPC cable from its connector on the haptics touchpad module. Close the latch to secure.
Connect the SD card reader daughterboard cable. Close the latch to secure.
Install the interposer board on the system board.
Tuck the cable into the gap between the system board and the palm rest & connect the display cable to its connector on the system board.
Using a Torx #5, install the screws that secure the display FPC cable to the system board.
Integrated WLAN Module
Identify the integrated WLAN location highlighted in blue.
Route the antenna cables through the metal clips on the system board.
Connect the black cable to the auxiliary (black triangle).
Connect the white cable to the main (white triangle).
Install the WLAN bracket and align with the screw hole.
Tighten the captive screw to secure the WLAN bracket on the system board.
Graphics card
Identify the graphics card location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the graphics card into the slot on the system.
Install the screws that secure the graphics card to the system.
Align and place the PC bridge bracket into the slot on the system.
Install the screws that secure the PC bridge bracket to the system.
Align and place the graphics card bridge into the slot on the system.
Install the screws that secure the graphics card bridge to the system.
Align and place the two graphics card FPC interposer boards into the slot on the system.
Align and place the graphics card FPC into the slot on the system.
Using a Torx #5, install the screws that secure the graphics card FPC to the system.
Heat sink - Vapor Chamber
Identify the heat sink location highlighted in blue.
Apply a pea sized amount of thermal material as shown.
Install the heat sink on the system board and align with the screw holes.
Tighten the screws that secure the heat sink to the system board. Tighten in order. Do not over tighten.
Heat sink - Discrete
Identify the heat sink location highlighted in blue.
Apply a pea sized amount of thermal material as shown.
Install the heat sink on the system board and align with the screw holes.
Tighten the screws that secure the heat sink to the system board. Tighten in order. Do not over tighten.
Heat sink - UMA
Identify the heat sink location highlighted in blue.
Apply a pea sized amount of thermal material as shown.
Install the heat sink on the system board and align with the screw holes.
Tighten the screws that secure the heat sink to the system board. Tighten in order. Do not over tighten.
Right Fan
Identify the right fan location highlighted in blue.
Slide and install the right fan into the slot on the system and align with the screw holes.
Install the screws that secure the right fan to the system.
Connect the right fan cable to its connector on the system board.
Left Fan
Identify the left fan location highlighted in blue.
Slide and install the left fan into the slot on the system and align with the screw holes.
Install the screws that secure the left fan to the system.
Connect the left fan cable to its connector on the system board.
VPU Card
Identify the VPU card location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the VPU card on the VPU card bracket.
Install the screw that secures the VPU card to the VPU card bracket.
Align the notch on the VPU card with the tab on the slot and slide the VPU card into the slot.
Install the VPU card thermal bracket and align the screw holes.
Install the screw that secures the VPU card thermal bracket to the system.
Solid State Drive (SSD)
Battery
Identify the battery location highlighted in blue.
Align with tabs and place the battery into the slot on the system.
Install the screws that secure the battery to the system.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery FPC cable to its connector on the system board.
Install the battery FPC bracket on the system.
Tighten the captive screws that secure the battery FPC bracket to the system.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Place the base cover on the system and press the edges of the cover until it clicks into place.
Using a Torx #5, install the screws that secure the base cover to the system.
