This 3D experience gives you the step by step process of replacing the Processor and a Precision 3660 Tower. The procedure will also include removing the Side Cover, Heat Sink Assembly and reinstalling them.
Removal
Side Cover
Identify the side cover highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screw that secures the side cover to the chassis.
Pull the release latch to release the cover from the chassis.
Lift the side cover from the chassis.
Heat Sink Assembly
Processor
Identify the processor highlighted in blue.
Push down the release lever and move it away from the processor to release it from the securing tab.
Extend the release lever completely and open the processor cover.
Gently lift the processor from the processor socket.
Install
Processor
Identify the processor location highlighted in blue.
Ensure that the release lever on the processor socket is fully extended in the open position.
Ensure that the pin 1 indicator on the processor socket and the CPU are aligned.
Align the notches on the processor with the tabs on the socket and place it on the socket.
Once the processor is in place, lower the release lever and secure it under the tab on the processor cover.
Heat Sink Assembly
Side Cover
Identify the side cover location highlighted in blue.
Locate the tabs on the side cover and slots on the chassis.
Tighten the captive screw to secure the side cover to the chassis.
