Removal
Base Cover
Align the system with the outline to enable the AR lock.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the base cover to the system
Pry open the base cover from the smart-card reader slot at the bottom right side of the base cover.
Lift the base cover starting from the bottom edge and remove it from the system.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Battery
Identify the battery highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the battery to the system.
Lift the battery from the system.
Memory (Secondary)
Identify the memory module highlighted in blue.
Using your fingertips, carefully spread apart the securing clips until the memory module pops up.
Hold the edges and carefully lift the memory module up from connector on the system board.
Wireless Module (WLAN)
Identify the wireless module (WLAN) highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screw that secures the bracket.
Remove the bracket with screw from the system.
Disconnect the cables from the connectors on the WLAN.
Remove the WLAN from the connector on the system board.
Wireless Module (WWAN)
Identify the wireless module (WWAN) highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screw that secures the WWAN bracket.
Remove the bracket and screw from the system.
Disconnect the cables from the connectors on the WWAN.
Remove the WWAN from the connector on the system board.
SSD 2280 (Primary)
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the SSD thermal shield to the SSD module.
Remove the thermal shield.
Remove the screw that secures the solid state drive to the system.
Slide and lift the solid state drive (SSD) from the system board.
SSD 2230 (Primary)
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the SSD thermal shield to the SSD module.
Remove the thermal shield.
Remove the screw that secures the SSD.
Remove the SSD with its holder from the SSD module.
Remove the screw to secure the SSD to its holder.
Remove the SSD from the holder.
SSD module
Inner frame
Keyboard
Identify the keyboard highlighted in blue.
Turn the system over and open the display.
Identify the keyboard highlighted in blue.
Using a plastic scribe, pry the top edge of the keyboard lattice starting from the recess points and working your way around the sides and bottom edge.
Remove the keyboard lattice from the keyboard.
Remove the screws that secure the keyboard to the system.
Pry the bottom edge of the keyboard and then work along the left and the right sides of the keyboard.
Remove the keyboard with the cable(s) from the system.
Memory (Primary)
Identify the memory module location highlighted in blue
Remove the screw that secures the memory shield in place.
Lift the memory shield to remove it from the system.
Pry the securing clips from both sides of the memory module until the memory module pops up.
Remove the memory module from the memory module slot
System board assembly
Identify the system board assembly highlighted in blue.
Gently lift and slide to disconnect the GPU cable from the connector on the system board.
Disconnect the speaker cable from the the system board.
Close the display and turn the the system over.
Remove the screw that secures the display cable bracket.
Remove the display cable bracket from the system.
Remove the screws that secure the beam connectors (may vary depending on the system)
Remove the beam connector(s) from the system. There may be 1 or 2 connectors.
Remove the screws that secure the system board to the system.
Loosen the four captive screws that secure the heat sink assembly to the GPU Card.
Pry the coin cell battery, located under the system board, from the palmrest while lifting the system board.
Remove the system board assembly and the coin cell from the system.
GPU card
Identify the GPU card highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the GPU card to the palmrest.
Remove the GPU card from the system.
Speaker
Identify the speaker highlighted in blue.
Peel the adhesive tape that secures the speaker cable to the palmrest.
Pry the speaker module from its slot on the top edge of the palmrest and remove.
Install
Speaker
Identify the speaker location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the speaker module into its slot on the top edge of the palmrest.
Adhere the adhesive tapes to secure the speaker cable in place on the palmrest.
GPU card
Identify the GPU card location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the GPU card into its slot on the palmrest.
Install the screws to secure the GPU card to the palmrest.
System board assembly
Identify the system board assembly location highlighted in blue.
Install the system board assembly into the slot on the system.
Adhere the coin cell battery to the slot on the palmrest.
Tighten the four captive screws that secure the heat sink assembly to the GPU Card.
Install the screws to secure the system board to the palmrest.
Install the FPC beam connector(s) to the system board. There may be 1 or 2 connectors.
Install the screws that secure the beam connectors (may vary depending on the system)
Install the display cable bracket on the system.
Install the screw that secures the display cable bracket.
Turn the system over and open the display.
Connect the speaker cable to the system board.
Connect the GPU cable to the system board. Slide in and press down to connect.
Memory (Primary)
Identify the memory module location highlighted in blue.
Align the notch on the memory module with the tab on the slot and slide the memory into the slot at an angle.
Press the memory module down until it clicks into place.
Install the memory shield above the memory module.
Install the screw to secure the memory shield.
Keyboard
Identify the keyboard location highlighted in blue.
Align the tabs on the keyboard with the tabs on the computer chassis at an angle and place the keyboard on the palmrest.
Install the screws to secure the keyboard to the system.
Install the keyboard lattice and press along the edges and in between keys until it clicks into place.
Close the display and turn the the system over.
Inner frame
SSD module
SSD 2230 (Primary)
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) location highlighted in blue.
Place the SSD into the SSD holder.
Install the screw to secure the SSD to the holder.
Place the SSD with its holder into the SSD module.
Install the screw to secure the SSD.
Install the thermal shield above the SSD module.
Install the screw to secure the SSD thermal shield to the SSD.
SSD 2280 (Primary)
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) location highlighted in blue.
Align the notches on the solid state drive (SSD) and slide into the slot on the system board.
Install the screw that secures the solid state drive to the system.
Install the thermal shield above the SSD module.
Install the screw to secure the SSD thermal shield to the SSD.
Wireless Module (WWAN)
Identify the wireless module (WWAN) location highlighted in blue.
Insert the WWAN card into the connector on the system board.
Connect the White / Grey to the ANT0.
Connect the Blue to the ANT1.
Connect the Orange to the ANT2.
Connect the Black / Grey to the ANT3.
Install the bracket that secures the WWAN.
Tighten the captive screw that secures the WWAN.
Wireless Module (WLAN)
Identify the wireless module (WLAN) location highlighted in blue.
Insert the WLAN into the connector on the system board.
Connect the black cable to the auxiliary (black triangle).
Connect the white cable to the main (white triangle).
Install the bracket to secure the WLAN.
Tighten the captive screw to secure the WLAN.
Memory (Secondary)
Identify the memory module location highlighted in blue
Align the notch on the memory module with the tab on the slot and slide the memory into the slot at an angle.
Press the memory module down until it clicks into place.
Battery
Identify the battery location highlighted in blue.
Insert the battery into the slot on the system.
Install the screws to secure the battery to the system.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the connector on the system board.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Slide the base cover into its slot until it clicks into place.
Tighten the captive screws to secure the base cover to the system.
