Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue
Remove the screws that secure the cover to the system
Slide the cover toward the back of the system and lift the cover to remove from the system
Press and hold the power button for ten seconds to ground the system board.
Cooling Shroud
Identify the cooling shroud highlighted in blue
Pry and release the tabs that secure the cooling shroud to the processor fan
Lift the cooling shroud away from the system
Fan & Heatsink Assembly
Identify the fan & heatsink assembly highlighted in blue
Disconnect the fan cable from the connector on the system board
Loosen the captive screws that secure the fan & heatsink assembly to the system board
Lift the fan & heatsink assembly away from the system
Clean the thermal residue with alcohol wipe
Processor
Identify the processor highlighted in blue
Press the release lever down and then push it away from the processor to release it from the securing bracket
Rotate outwards to lift up the processor cover
Hold the processor firmly by the sides using your fingers and lift the processor straight upwards from its socket
Install
Processor
Identify the processor location highlighted in blue
Ensure that the release lever on the processor socket is fully extended and the processor cover is in the open position.
Carefully lower the processor straight downwards into its socket. Do not use force to seat the processor.
When the processor is fully seated in the socket, rotate inwards to close the processor cover.
Lower the socket lever and push it under the tab to lock the processor
Fan & Heatsink Assembly
Identify the fan & heatsink assembly location highlighted in blue
Apply thermal paste or pad included with the heatsink (use a spiral pattern as shown)
Align the stand-offs to the screw holes on system board and slowly lower the fan & heatsink assembly on the processor
Tighten the captive screws to secure the fan & heatsink assembly to the system board
Connect the fan cable to the system board
Cooling Shroud
Identify the cooling shroud location highlighted in blue
Align the tabs on the cooling shroud with the securing slots on the system
Lower the cooling shroud into the system until the notches secure with a click to ensure it's firmly seated
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue
Place the cover on the system and slide the cover until it clicks into place
Install the screws to secure the cover to the system
