Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.
Using a plastic scribe, pry open the top side of the base cover and continue working on the left, right and, bottom sides to open the base cover.
Lift the base cover off the palm rest assembly.
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Align the base cover with the screw holes and place it on the palm rest assembly.
Tighten the captive screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Battery
Identify the battery highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the battery to the palm rest assembly.
Lift the battery off the palm rest assembly.
Flip the battery.
Peel the tape that secures the battery cable to the battery.
Unroute the battery cable from the routing guides on the battery.
Disconnect and remove the battery cable from the battery.
Identify the battery location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the connector on the battery.
Route the battery cable through the routing guides on the battery.
Adhere the tape that secures the battery cable to the battery.
Flip the battery.
Align and place the battery into the slot on the palm rest assembly.
Tighten the captive screws that secure the battery to the palm rest assembly.
Solid State Drive - 2230
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the SSD shield cover to the system board.
Remove the SSD shield cover from the system.
Slide and remove the SSD from the system board.
Wireless Module (WWAN)
Speakers
Identify the speakers highlighted in blue.
To disconnect, pry up the bottom first and then pull it away to remove.
Unroute the speaker cable from the routing guides on the palm rest assembly.
Remove the screws that secure the speakers in place.
Lift the speakers along with their cable off the palm rest assembly.
Identify the speakers location highlighted in blue.
Using the alignment posts, place the speakers into the slots on the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secure the speakers in place.
Route the speaker cable through the routing channels on the palm rest assembly.
Align the pins with the connector and push down to connect.
Left Fan
Identify the left fan highlighted in blue.
Peel the tape that secure the display cable to the palm rest assembly.
Unroute the display cable from the routing channels along the sides of the left fan.
Lift the latch and disconnect the left fan cable from the left I/O board.
Remove the screws that secure the left fan to the palm rest assembly.
Remove the left fan from the palm rest assembly.
Right Fan
Identify the right fan highlighted in blue.
Unroute the camera cable from the routing channels along the sides of the right fan.
Lift the latch and disconnect the right fan cable from the right I/O board.
Remove the screws that secure the right fan to the palm rest assembly.
Remove the right fan from the palm rest assembly.
Right I/O Board
Identify the right I/O board highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the right I/O board connector on the right I/O board and the system board.
Remove the right I/O board connector from the right I/O board and the system board.
Remove the two interposer boards from the right I/O board and system board.
Loosen the captive screw that secures the power button connector bracket to the right I/O board.
Remove the power button connector bracket from the right I/O board.
Disconnect the power button cable from the right I/O board.
Lift the latch and disconnect the right fan cable from the right I/O board.
Remove the screws that secure the right I/O board on the palm rest assembly.
Remove the right I/O board off the palm rest assembly.
Identify the right I/O board location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the right I/O board on the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secure the right I/O board on the palm rest assembly.
Connect the right fan cable to the right I/O board. Close the latch to secure.
Connect the power button cable on the right I/O board.
Install the power button connector bracket on the right I/O board.
Tighten the captive screw that secures the power button connector bracket on the right I/O board.
Install the two interposer boards from the right I/O board and system board.
Install the right I/O board connector on the right I/O board and system board, confirm the correct orientation before securing.
Install the screws that secure the right I/O board connector to the right I/O board and system board.
Power Button
Identify the power button highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screw that secures the power button bracket to the right I/O board.
Remove the power button bracket from the right I/O board.
Disconnect the power button cable from the right I/O board.
Remove the screws that secure the power button bracket to the system.
Remove the power button bracket from the system.
Remove the power button from the system.
Identify the power button location highlighted in blue.
Place the power button into its slot on the system.
Install the power button bracket on the system.
Install the screws that secure the power button bracket to the system.
Connect the power button cable on the right I/O board.
Install the power button bracket on the right I/O board.
Tighten the captive screw that secures the power button bracket to the right I/O board.
Left I/O Board
Identify the left I/O board highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the left I/O board connector to the left I/O board and the system board.
Remove the left I/O board connector from the left I/O board and the system board.
Remove the two interposer boards from the left I/O board and system board.

Align and place the I/O board on the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secure the left I/O board on the palm rest assembly.
Adhere the tape that secures the display cable to the left I/O board.
Align the pins with the connector and push down to connect.
Connect the left fan cable on the left I/O board. Close the latch to secure.
Place the two interposer boards on the left I/O board and system board.
Install the left I/O board connector on the left I/O board and the system board, confirm the correct orientation before securing.
Install the screws that secure the left I/O board connector to the left I/O board and the system board.
Display Cable
Identify the display cable highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the display cable bracket to the system board.
Remove the display cable bracket from the system.
Peel the tapes that secure the display and camera cables to the system.
Disconnect the display and camera cables from the system board.
Unroute the display and camera cables from the routing channels on the system.
System Board Assembly
Identify the system board assembly highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screw that secures the WLAN module bracket on the system board.
Remove the WLAN module bracket from the system board.
Disconnect the WLAN antennas cables from the WLAN module.
Lift the latch and disconnect the touchpad cable from the system board.
Remove the screw that secures the system board to the palm rest assembly.
Lift and remove the system board from the palm rest assembly.
Identify the system board assembly location highlighted in blue.
Align it with the screw holes and place the system board on the palm rest assembly.
Install the screw to secure the system board to the palm rest assembly.
Connect the touchpad cable to the system board and close the latch to secure.
Connect the black or "A" cable to the auxiliary (black triangle)
Connect the white or "M" cable to the main (white triangle)
Align and install the WLAN module bracket on the system board.
Tighten the captive screw that secures the WLAN module bracket on the system board.
Keyboard
Identify the keyboard highlighted in blue.
Lift the latch and disconnect the keyboard and backlight cables from the touchpad.
Remove the screws that secure the keyboard assembly to the system.
Remove the screws that secure the keyboard assembly to the system.
Open the computer to 180 degrees. Place the computer on a flat surface with the keyboard facing up.
Remove the keyboard along with its cable through the gap on the palm rest.
Identify the keyboard location highlighted in blue.
Align with the tabs and place the keyboard on the palm rest.
Close the display completely and turn the computer over as shown in the video.
Install the screws that secure the keyboard assembly to the system.
Install the screws that secure the keyboard assembly to the system.
Connect the keyboard and backlight cables to the touchpad. Close the latch to secure.

System Board Assembly
Display Cable
Identify the display cable location highlighted in blue.
Route the display and camera cables through the routing channels on the system.
Connect the display cable and camera cable on the system board.
Adhere the tapes that secure the display and camera cables to the system.
Align and place the display cable bracket on the system board.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the display cable bracket to the system board.
Left I/O Board
Identify the display cable location highlighted in blue.
Route the display and camera cables through the routing channels on the system.
Connect the display cable and camera cable on the system board.
Adhere the tapes that secure the display and camera cables to the system.
Align and place the display cable bracket on the system board.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the display cable bracket to the system board.
Power Button
Identify the display cable location highlighted in blue.
Route the display and camera cables through the routing channels on the system.
Connect the display cable and camera cable on the system board.
Adhere the tapes that secure the display and camera cables to the system.
Align and place the display cable bracket on the system board.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the display cable bracket to the system board.
Right I/O Board
Identify the display cable location highlighted in blue.
Route the display and camera cables through the routing channels on the system.
Connect the display cable and camera cable on the system board.
Adhere the tapes that secure the display and camera cables to the system.
Align and place the display cable bracket on the system board.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the display cable bracket to the system board.
Right Fan
Identify the right fan location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the right fan on the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secure the right fan to the palm rest assembly.
Connect the right fan cable to the right I/O board. Close the latch to secure.
Route the camera cable through the routing channels along the sides of the right fan.
Left Fan
Identify the left fan location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the left fan on the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secure the left fan to the palm rest assembly.
Connect the left fan cable to the left I/O board. Close the latch to secure.
Route the display cable through the routing channels along the sides of the left fan.
Adhere the tape that secure the display cable to the palm rest assembly.
Speakers
Identify the heat sink location highlighted in blue.
Apply a pea sized amount of thermal material & XPG compression thermal gel (for memory on processor) as shown. Replace thermal pads if needed.
Place the heat sink on the system board and align with the screw holes.
Tighten the screws that secure the heat sink to the system board. Tighten in order. Do not over tighten.
Wireless Module (WWAN)
Solid State Drive - 2230
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) location highlighted in blue.
Align the notch with the tab and slide the SSD into the slot on the system board.
Place the SSD shield cover over the SSD.
Tighten the captive screws that secure the SSD shield cover to the system board.
Battery
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) location highlighted in blue.
Align the notch with the tab and slide the SSD into the slot on the system board.
Place the SSD shield cover over the SSD.
Tighten the captive screws that secure the SSD shield cover to the system board.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the connector on the system board.
Base Cover
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the connector on the system board.
