This 3D experience gives you the step by step process of replacing the BOSS S1 card and a PowerEdge XR11 RearAccess. The procedure will also include removing the System Cover, BOSS S1 module, M.2 SSD card and reinstalling them.
Removal
System Cover
Identify the system cover highlighted in blue.
Lift the release latch until the system cover slides back.
Lift the cover from the system.
BOSS S1 module
Holding the blue tag, pull the BOSS module away from the system board connector.
M.2 SSD card
Turn the boss module over to access the SSD.
Identify the M.2 SSD card highlighted in blue.
Using the Phillips #1, remove the screw that secures the M.2 SSD card to the BOSS module.
Slide the M.2 SSD card to disconnect it from the connector on the BOSS module.
BOSS S1 card
After removal of the M.2 SSD, the remaining part is the BOSS S1 Card.
Install
BOSS S1 card
Identify the BOSS S1 Card highlighted in blue.
M.2 SSD card
Identify the M.2 SSD card location highlighted in blue.
Align the notch with the tab and insert the SSD into the connector on the BOSS card.
Using the Phillips #1 screwdriver, install the screw to secure the M.2 SSD card on the BOSS module.
BOSS S1 module
Align and insert the BOSS card module with the connectors on the system board.
System Cover
Identify the system cover location highlighted in blue.
Align the tabs on the system cover with the guide slots on the system.
Close the system cover release latch.
