Troubleshooting the system battery

Prerequisites

CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that are shipped with your product.

Steps

  1. Check the LCD screen for error messages indicating a defective system battery.
  2. Turn off the system and disconnect it from the electrical outlet.
  3. Replace the battery.
  4. Log in to the CMC web interface and re-enter the time and date. For more information, see the Dell Chassis Management Controller for Dell PowerEdge VRTX User’s Guide at Dell.com/esmmanuals.
  5. Reconnect the system to the electrical outlet and turn on the system.

Next steps

If the problem is not resolved by replacing the battery, see Getting Help.
