scsi-qla4xxx driver update fails with ESXi 6.0 U3 and ESXi 6.5.x Dell EMC customized images
- Description:
Due to the discrepancy in the driver naming convention for different ESXi releases (for example, 5.x and 6.x), upgrades from ESXi 6.0.x or ESXi 6.5 to ESXi 6.5 U1 A00 retain the older driver for scsi-qla4xxx.
- Applies to:
- ESXi 6.0 U3 and ESXi 6.5.x
- Solution:
- To upgrade to the latest version of scsi-qla4xxx, uninstall the existing driver version using the esxcli command and install the new driver. NOTE If ESXi is booted from SAN network using scsi-qla4xx, the driver cannot be updated.
