Troubleshooting a wet enclosure

Prerequisites

CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that are shipped with your product.

Steps

  1. Turn off the system and attached peripherals.
  2. Disconnect the power supply units (PSUs) from the PDU or electrical outlet.
    CAUTION: Wait until all of the indicators on the PSUs turn off before proceeding.
  3. Remove the following components from the system:
    1. Server modules
    2. PSUs
    3. Blower modules
    4. I/O module
    5. Enclosure hard drives
    6. Cooling shroud
    7. Cooling fan assembly
    8. Backplane expander board
    9. Hard drive backplane
    10. CMC cards
    11. PCIe cage
    12. Expansion cards
    CAUTION: Air dry and do not use towels.
  4. Let the system dry thoroughly for at least 24 hours.
  5. Reinstall the components you removed in step 3.
  6. Reconnect the PSUs to the PDU or electrical outlet and start up the system.
