Aurora-R5, GPU upgrade

hello i am looking to upgrade my r5 with a 960 to a 1060 and i was wondering if a Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 Windforce OC or (i would prefer this one because it looks cool xD) ASUS GeForce GTX 1060 3GB Dual-Fan OC Edition Graphics Card would fit and work and which one is better with my pc ( i5 6600(non k) 16gb ram) and i think i have a 460watt (if that matters idk if a need a higher one or the one i have is fine ) ..... if you know a better card that you would recommend comment pls and thank you

I think both of those cards are too tall. While an Aurora R1-R4 will hold them,

https://www.dell.com/community/Alienware-General/Recommended-NVIDIA-graphics-cards-for-Alienware-Aurora-R1-2009/td-p/5590861

... they will not fit in an Aurora R5-R7. It needs to be no taller than the hold-down screw ... like a Founders Edition 1060 ... or the MSI Aero 1070. This is because of the lower power-supply bracket. Someone a while back verified and posted about it.

https://dell.com/community/Alienware-Desktops/Aurora-R7-GPU/m-p/5757231

As for the power-supply ... since even the small 460watt PS should have the required PCIe-Power-Cables for a GTX-1060 ... it should (barely) work. Even though a got a (reference design) Dell OEM GTX-1070 in my Aurora-R6, I purposely got the optional 850-watt. My Power-Supply stays cool (and un-stressed) because it never gets near 100% utilization.

1. No, but he clearly said the 1-inch taller-cards would not fit. However, he did find one that would. Apparently, there are some that are only 3/4inch taller than the hold-down screw.

2. I'm only talking about height. You will have to measure the sides yourself

3. Be prepared to use the Dremel  . I'm not sure if would help (or even work properly) but there is a lower PCIe slot.

hello sorry to nag you again but i was looking around at cards and found a evga card that is 10.5 x 1.5 x 4.38 in and was wondering if the height  is close enough since the one you linked me before was like 4.1 but now the length would be a problem it would be super close but it might be able to fit

You know ... that's not really that big of a jump in performance ... is it?

I understand that you might not be able to afford a GTX-1080 or GTX-1080ti (thanks miners) but I think you should consider at least a GTX-1070 or 1070ti instead.

It's no problem. It would be nice if we could find some cards that definitely fit. However, I can't give you any other definite answers. I was really just trying to alert you to the problem. I thought those URL-Links were helpful and relevant.

That one looks pretty "low" where the PowerSupply Bracket would be. It's not a full-inch taller than the hold-down screw like some of the others. Amazon is pretty easy to deal with on returns and all.

Let us know how it goes.

In a recent thread, I think the users said GTX-1050ti = GTX-1060 .

1. I know it's crazy. They should be $400 (actually less because it's a year later and 1070ti is out now).

2. It's better, but $400 better ?

Running at a lower res (and minimal effects) should compensate for 2gb vs 6gb card.

Is your Windows on a NVMe-SSD ? Do you have Rust installed on SSD also?
