Simple R7 liquid coolers for i7-8700

Jump to solution

Are there any AIO watercoolers that would fit on the existing bracket for the i7-8700(non-K) in an R7? I didn’t spring for it because I didn’t think I’d need it and air cooling has worked fine but the chip is running hot now that I’ve gotten into VR. I plan on building my own Pc next year seeing as the bios in the R7s won’t be updated to allow newer CPUs but I’d like to at least toss in the a water cooler as a hold over until then because the heat is throttling performance at this point but I don’t want to have to take out all the parts and remove the motherboard to put in a new bracket if I can avoid it because it’s for a system I’m planning on replacing in half a year

Corsair h60 and h75, rgb (2018) and non rgb versions, both work without removing the mobo.

You need a corsair ml120 pro (no led) fan, or to recycle one of the dell (avc) fans though.

@ToothyWeasel

This is what the existing back plate looks like on your R7 mobo, which is more than sufficient for the Corsair CPU water block.

Awesome, thanks for the suggestions! I’m guessing that fan has to go on the radiator because the one that comes with it doesn’t work with the R7 case?

It will throw a startup error but otherwise works fine.

Use the SP Series fan that comes with the H60 radiator to replace your OEM lower front intake fan.
