Got white screen while gaming and now the screen doesn't light up help!!!

Got white screen while gaming and now the screen doesn't light up  help!!! 

i have an m17xr3 and wife was gaming on it all of a sudden pc goes to a white screen and now screen will not even light up everything else does but it will not light... sometimes it will but it will go straight to a white screen and then turn off. if i take cmos out it will beep but thats about it i am thinking its the video card but would like to try other things before dropping money into this bad boy..
