M17x R4 box contents
I'm thinking of buying the M17x R4 but need to know if the OS media ships with the laptop or is part of a "recovery partition". One of my first tasks when I get a new laptop will be to bltiz it and install a Windows and Linux dual boot system.

No. The systems only ship with a recovery partition to return the system back to factory state. We do not ship an OS DVD when the system ships.

Are you sure?
The unboxing videos on You Tube, and all the discussion I've read, say the M17x R4 comes with a Windows 7 install DVD, and another DVD with Drivers etc.

Correction: Sorry, had to check my records. While I received a copy of the O/S disk, I did NOT get a copy of the MS Office 2010 disk but after a lot of getting bounced between MS and Dell each stating the other was responsible for help, Dell finally came through and (with me on the telephone) contacted MS and after going up "two levels of Mgmt., MS then confirmed its responsibility to help with installing the 64-bit version and "downloaded" the full version to my PC to do so. (This Office 2010 disk I have I actually subsequentely purchased from MS as a back-up disk).

Well, at least there is "http://dell.to/rTEkg" LOL. My Area 51 ALX of Nov 2010 did come with the Windows 7 Ultimate and MS Office 2010 disks so I was, for example, able to update the MS Office Dell installation of 32-bit to the 64-bit version which requires the Office disk. (Dell's image would have been of no value for that.)
