Motherboard replacement needed- chip compatibility issue
I have a used R4 ALX with an i7 3820, ca n it accommodate an i7 3930 hex core CPU?
for insurance , I also purchased a new R3 ALXmm
Regular intel boards won't fit my R4 case, and alternate intel boards cannot accommodate the coolant Lines, makiing this difficult.
The six core processor has fins that make it hard to seat , and I attribute that to MB issued. Both new boards have 775 chipsets.
Thoughts?!?

Wikipedia lists all Core cpu's; for Sandy-Bridge E, socket lga 2011 is used, which fits 3820 / 3930k, (where 3930 is the lower performer in the hex rung)
If you mean the integrated heat spreader (the "lid") is shaped funny, or "looks different" from the 3820, maybe someone else can help out. The i7 list is all I have to offer. lol
