We haven’t test the power board of the X51R2 in the x51R1 so there is no way for us to assure you that it will work properly however if you want to buy it you can contact the Dell sales department.

Apparently you can't even buy one if you are a current R2 owner based on my convo with a sales rep. I asked how the x51 R2 is still in production if this part is out of stock, but got no answer. Simply refusing to sell a part to force someone to spend money on the latest version of their PC is. But it's a whole new level of when an R2 owner can't even by a spare part for their machine.

If defective, a current X51-R2 owner still within the purchased warranty can get it shipped out for free once troubleshooting has been done. An X51-R1 owner would call Dell Spare Parts 1-800-357-3355 and ask for prices and availability of D85RT. General new sales would not have access to it. The Daughter power board shows as "live" in the parts tool.

I own both an X51-R2 and a X51-R1. Neither have a defective Powerboard but I would like to replace the one in my X51-R1 with the latest Powerboard. The fact that I'm unable to simply buy a spare part for one or both of my Computers is a little upsetting. "Parts tool"? If you mean the item is in stock well I was told it was not by a rep in a live chat today and instead was pointed towards an already ended $195 ebay auction.

I used the Dell internal Spare Parts Master Database tool. I have no idea what tool they may have used.

Thanks for looking. Btw I've seen you on multiple topics helping people out, keep up the good work.

The mystery isn't really whether they have the part or not. I mean the x51 is still in production and selling so we know they have the part. The issue is they seem to not want to sell it to X51 R1 owners. There are plenty of third party forum threads about it since the release of the nvidia 900 series cards. I'll be trying the parts department again tomorrow, and the day after that, and the day after that, etc etc lol.

Also 1-800-357-3355 is having technical issues...

I am happy to announce to all Alienware X51 R1 owners that if you keep contacting Dell eventually you can order this part. It seems to depend on the sales rep you get on the phone or online. I went online and did a live chat and the rep I got this time asked for my service tag number then I gave him the part number. He confirmed I was looking for the D85RT daughterboard and then took my shipping and billing information. As of right now the part is on it's way to me.
