15 R3, i5-6300 HQ, CPU upgrade

Hello everyone, the question is essentially, how can I determine which processor can be changed, installed in my model, i5-6300 HQ?

There is a high probability that the i7-6970 HQ is suitable.

The 2016 15 R3 was never validated with the i7-6970 HQ. These were the best we validated =
Intel i7-6820 HK Skylake, 8MB SmartCache, 2.7GHz up to 3.6GHz
Intel i7-7820 HK Kaby Lake, 8MB SmartCache, 2.9GHz up to 3.9GHz

The CPU in that model cannot be removed or changed, as it is soldered onto the motherboard. You would have to replace the entire motherboard, and the cost would be quite prohibitive. The following forum post addresses that same question.

Thanks for the answer, but then you really need to re-solder, you just need to choose the right processor for the FCBGA 1440 socket

I never considered that you would actually solder in a new processor. Obviously you have access to equipment and skills that the average user does not possess. My compliments to you!
