17 R5, AWCC, AlienFX 2.0 and Tester missing
Similar problem with 17 R5, the AlienFX 2.0 and the AlienFX Tester are not installed. Dell SupportAssist says all firmware and drivers are installed and Dell Product Support says all 17 R5 updates are installed. This is a lie, because all AlienFX LEDs are dark, including the keyboard. Why are Dell NOT supporting AlienFX Devices? Why are Dell Customers prevented from downloading the 17 R5 AlienFX 2.0 and the AlienFX Tester?

AlienFX isn't Firmware or a Driver. It's just a piece of software that needs to be installed separately. In the older systems that I still have, the Command Center is downloaded from the Dell Support page. But it's also available in the Microsoft Store on the newer machines from what I hear.

Hello @mattyb3 thank you for your observation. If you read the message it just says that the utilities were run and found no problems. At no time was AlienFX 2.0 declared to be firmware, driver, software, application, etc. because it has not been installed on the 17 R5. So the question of how to install the missing AlienFX 2.0 remains unanswered.

You actually said that Dell SupportAssist/Product Support was lying because it said that "all firmware and drivers are installed". I was pointing out that the Command Center/AlienFX is not a Driver or Firmware so as far as SupportAssist is concerned everything is correct.
You need to manually reinstall the AWCC (Alienware Command Center) 5.2.75.0 from the 17 R5 driver page. If it still doesn't work, then try an older version.

Hello @mattyb3 thank you for your post.
Many installations of the Alienware-Command-Center-Application_0H00M_WIN_5.2.75.0_A00 update failed to install AlienFX 2.0. Used Revo Uninstaller to ensure clean install on each occasion. The Knowledge Base solution and McScuffy solution in post M24432 did not install AlienFX 2.0.
Many installations of the older Alienware-Command-Center_HWF9Y_WIN_5.2.1.0_A00 did not install AlienFX 2.0 or trigger SupportAssist to install AlienFX 2.0.
There is no installation of AlienFX Tester.
(There is no hardware test of AlienFX Lights within SupportAssist's Troubleshooting option)
SupportAssist says everything is up to date despite an older version of AWCC being installed that should have triggered notification that an AWCC update, etc. are available.
Dell Support do not provide solution that works.

SupportAssist nagging notification keeps appearing promising something?
Clicking on this notification takes customer to SupportAssist hardware troubleshooting.
Which would be good if it was responding to a hardware fault. My laptop is dark. A hardware check of AlenFX Lights is wanted, but not listed. A full hardware check says there are no hardware problems. This not true, all AlienFX Lights are dark. Further confirmation that 17 R5 AlienFX has no Product Support.

Dell AWCC update package does not install AlienFX 1.0, AlienFX 2.0 or AlienFX Tester (again) so that LEDs can be switched on. Dell AWCC update package is not fit for purpose.
Where is the separate AlienFX hardware tester download link?

17 R5 AlienFX 2.0 function not supported by Dell or Alienware! AWCC does not have FX tab. Laptop with pre-installed AlienFX LEDs continues to be dark.
Where is the separate AlienFX 2.0 hardware tester download link?

@ga15859 says: The enable 3rd party AlienFX Access option has been removed from the 17 R5 Alienware Command Center, see Here. Moreover, there’s no option to enable those from inside the Alienware Command Center either.

The AWCC continues to refuse to install AlienFX 2.0 and AlienFX Tester. Our new Alienware 17 R5 Laptop is locked into dark mode.
When is Alienware/Dell going to fix their AWCC application?
When is the Alienware/Dell going to provide the AlienFX 2.0 and AlienFX Tester applications as individual downloads?

Hello @Alienware-Eimy, @Alienware-Joe, other Alienware Team members:-
Dell / Alienware AWCC suite or the older AWCC fail to install all of their applications. Laptop continues to be dark.
Where is the AlienFX 2.0 download to be found?
Will the 17 R5 accept the AlienFX 1.0 application and where is this download to be found?
Is there any other AlienFX from other Dell / Alienware that works on the Alienware 17 R5 Laptop?
Is there any third party application similar to AlienFX that can function on the Alienware 17 R5 Laptop?

The Reddit Alienware community has AlienFX 2.0 Not working post that includes Alienware FX 02 link that does not work because it cannot get a licence from Dell. Not sure if this is the Alienware AlienFX 2.0 application until Microsoft Store corrects their error.

@AlienwareTeam
Microsoft Store have just allowed download of Alienware FX 2.0 but our laptop continues to be dark. This new Alienware 17 R5 laptop has been with us for three months and the AWCC Suite still refuses to activate the FX tab. AWCC's Notification keeps saying that additional components are required to be downloaded, but they never are. Hardware test says everything works, but our laptop is dark.

Somehow I managed to download the AlienFX 2.0. Does anyone know if this version supports On-Key Press feature for the Lighting effects?

Hi @pixeul thank you for sharing your update. Do not know what an On-Key Press feature is. However, if your AlienFX 2.0 lights are working, use Fn + F12 to toggle them on and off.
On a personal note: please update if you recall how you managed to download the Alien FX 2.0 software. If this includes the AlienFX tester, please put it somewhere so that other users and myself can install it. Thank you.
We are still trying to get the install AlienFX 2.0 update msi file to download and install these LED applications even when AWCC update says the preinstalled AlienFX devices (hardware) are not detected. Our 17 R5 is still within its one year RTB warranty, but always in dark mode, and fault was not fixed when we were recently given permission to send 17 R5 in for warranty repair.

Hey 4 Beryllium,
I also had lost my fx lights after updating to a newer version, and this happened in November of 2020. I have tried everything and nothing seems to work. I even tried to restore my computer and still nothing. One of the websites that I found was a way to maybe fixing the fx lights. I have not had the time to do this process due to that it takes time and at the moment I do not have that. I did look into my drivers and see if there were any problems and one of my AWCC drivers had a warning sign and I believe that is what is causing the fx lights. I am not 100% sure if that is the case, but I was wondering if you have the same problem.
To reach this you go to start - type Device Manager (Control Manager) - scroll to system devices - should be right under ACPI Thermal Zone. See if you see the same thing as the picture below.
After clicking on it and doing an update on it, it would say all up to date. To also let you know my laptop is an Alienware M15 R4. Weirdly my brother has an Alienware M17 R5 and when he did his update it all worked.
