TechPowerUp provides most recent Download of Visual C++ Redistributable Runtimes All-in-One.
However, the Dell AWCC AlienFX updates may continue to give the AWCC Warning, 'missing' AWCC FX tab and AWCC Home tab. The usual solution is to install the AWCC version that was installed in the factory, and known to work.
However, this solution is occasionally denied when the AWCC installer code corrupts (soft-bricks) the motherboard's eeprom chip, and Dell does not provide the re-flash utility. Strangely, Dell provides an expensive replacement motherboard under Dell Warranty. This option is usually too expensive for users that do not have a Dell Warranty. There is nothing to stop the eeprom being soft-bricked again when the next AWCC update becomes available. These cheap eeproms chips should be replaced by a fault tolerant eeprom chip. The eeprom chip is not user replaceable and Dell refurbished motherboards are now in short supply.
If motherboard soft-bricked, use your online Dell account to get Dell Support to create Service Request for you, so that Dell knows there is a problem to fix.
I've got an Alienware m17 r3. When upgrading AWCC and windows 10 to the latest versions, my case lighting is now broken (Tron, Alien Head, and Power button), but the per lighting keyboard still works. No amount of uninstalling / reinstalling AWCC fixes this. The fx tab shows the colors I set, but the physical lighting is totally off.
It's ridiculous that this is an ongoing problem for these wonderful laptops. This really needs to be fixed.
The Dell Remove and Reinstall AWCC does not work on my Alienware 17 R5. Alienware-Rodrigo has previously volunteered to get Dell Technical Support fix published many moons ago. Windows 10 Pro x64 has been updated to version 21H1 and AWCC refused to load anything. Installed Visual C++ Redistributable Runtimes All-in-One Update and parts of AWCC loaded, but AWCC Home and FX tabs, and AlienFX 2.0 application were not installed. There is no Dell troubleshoot for AlienFX 2.0.
More Windows 10 x64 version updates are underway. Microsoft say they are going to publish two version updates every year. The Dell AWCC application dependency on and compatibility issues with Windows 10 x64, will soon result in this Dell flagship LED feature not working for all the Alienware and Dell series personal computers trying to use the AlienFX 2.0 application. Very disappointing.
My Alienware 17 R5 is also stuck in AWCC dark mode, fn + f12 key combination does not toggle AlienFX off and on, because AlienFX 2.0 is not installed. My laptop's Tron, Alien Head, Power button, per lighting keyboard, etc. do not work.
Last year, the RTB warranty technician told me they ran all the hardware tests in their workshop, all tests pass, they are clueless how to fix this problem, and returned my laptop with its faults, not fixed.
Last year, I posted an online "Report an Unresolved Issue". This is still in the system, but Dell have withdrawn this feature. I have no updates to confirm that Corporate Dell is actually doing anything.
Last year, I asked Dell Technical Support to create and provide DUP (Dell Update Package) for just the AlienFX 2.0 application, still waiting. Since 2018, Dell appears to be clueless how get their flagship LED application to work for all their customers.

Hi, crimsom,
Totally agree.
I have version 5.3.2.0, A00 (released 6/17/21) as that's the latest version. It's so annoying. All of my tabs are there but as I said, all lighting except the per key keyboard is dark.
It's so annoying because I love this laptop. Coming from an old m17x r3 (which still works), this is sooo fast and smooth.
Hi @OnyxPanthyr thank you for sharing update with images.
My Alienware 17 R5 is also in this AWCC version 5.3.2.0 group. Dell Support tell me to keep trying to install AWCC, Dell are working on a fix. Have invested more than 1000 hours, not refunded for sending for RTB warranty, and this AWCC application fault is still not fixed. This Alienware Gaming laptop has lost its appeal. Dell imposition of the Intel Plundervolt restrictions has changed this into a very mundane laptop.
Alien ware command centre ,MY COMAND CENTRE SHOWS THE ERROR THAT ( NO COMPATIBLE FX DEVICES ARE CONNECTED ) AND IT SOES NOT SHOW ME FX OPTION, SO I AM MOT ABLE TO CONTROL MY FAN AND LIGHTS AND ANYONE HELP ME PLEASE.
Hi @Pranav 2 welcome to this user to user discussion forum. This is not Dell Support.
Please click on Product Support and allow Dell to identify your Model and Revision number. Do not share your private Service Tag or Express Service Code in this public forum. Never use SupportAssist to install Dell updates, always download and then manually run updates from within your Local Admin account.
Please use Revo Uninstaller Free to delete the installed AWCC, and then its Advanced Scan to remove all the legacy files that have not been removed. Restart. Then install the version of AWCC that was installed at the factory as if for the first time.
AWCC FX tab controls LED lighting when AlienFX or AlienFX 2.0 gets installed.
AWCC Fusion tab controls fans when OC Controls gets installed.
Please click on Kudos to say thank you for response from user that is not employed by Dell. Please share an update on progress, so that other users derive benefit from your experience. Thank you.
also I recommend you do a clean install of the command center and download Microsoft visual studios 2015 to do a clean install of that and see if it fixes the issue.
@OnyxPanthyr It's because you keyboard is DIFFERENT device. Even manufacturer are not Alienware.
@crimsom I now play with fan controls, and i configure out both OS and AWCC uses ACPI interface entry points to detect light (well.... any) device. Seems like the "brick" is somewhere into ACPI. Try to get full ACPI and EC dumps from working system and compare to yours, it should be somewhere inside. I bet some EC settings altered.
