17 R5, RAM upgrade

I am looking for a list of compatible RAM for the Alienware 17 R5.  I would like to upgrade from 8GB to 32GB, and want to make sure I purchase RAM that will work.

Thanks in advance.

Try Crucial.com used by many Dell owners. They guarantee ram will work.

Ok. Anyone have experience with this? Crucial 16GB (1 x 16GB) DDR4 2666MHz DRAM (Notebook Memory) CL19 1.2V DR SODIMM (260-pin) CT16G4SFD8266 That appears to be the part number I want.

I got this one but doesn't run at 2666 MHz. It defaults to the JEDEC (2400 MHz). https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/alienware-17-r5/CT12243658. I've had no luck in getting it to run at higher speeds so far. BIOS, Intel XTU, Alienware command center don't have XMP settings. It **bleep** that Dell has locked out these BIOS settings on an Alienware!

are you saying your crucial (guaranteed to work) 32 gigs of ddr4 works, however? however you are only getting part of the speed as advertised?!? Is this Alienware(dell) problem or crucial problem? I would like to know because I too am planning on upgrading my 17r5 to 32 gigs of ddr4. So I will reask the question, Which ram ACTUALLY works with this model? has anyone else been successful in installing (on their own) DDR4 Memory modules ? If so which brand, if not which brand? Are you able to use your AWCC Fusion successfully? I had my seller install an nVmE SSD drive and WAS able to utilize the AWCC Fusion software BUT NOW? NOT! the last two updates; awcc and bios have caused Fusion to be totally useless. Please let me know what DDR4 memory works with this model. I don't to have to pay dell twice as much ON TOP OF THE $1800 already spent on this laptop. Y'all starting to sound like a college or university - taking advantage of persons that can afford to be ripped off.

Hi

I have Alienware 17 R5 i7-8750H... The default RAM was 16GB which I hoped would be single stick and I thought of purchasing another 16GB and upgrade to 32GB... But it came with 2 x 8GB :-(... Nevertheless I am looking to upgrade so I have decided to upgrade to 32GB... But I faced a peculiar issue, in dell website they have mentioned that Alienware 17 R5 models is not compatible with 2666MHz RAM modules (link below)...

As per this article my laptop is not compatible with 2666MHz, But when I bought on the website it was clearly mentioned my laptop can handle upto 2666MHz RAM, Already DELL has soft locked 32GB instead of 64GB and this too...

Experts please clarify this issue for me please... I am in dire need of upgrade
