I have looked into crimson's suggested post and it helps. But for v5.3.2.0 there are a lot of other workarounds I had to implement along with the registry editor tweaks and luckily, it worked!

Sorry for the late reply. I have done the following -

0. Turn of any and all sort of network connection.
1. Keep Alienware CC Components for AWCC (1.1.24.0).
2. Keep Alienware OC Controls 1.3.32.1360.
3. Uninstall only the running horror version of AWCC.
4. Install v5.2.115.0.

5. run>regedit - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Alienware\Alienware Command Center - change InstallVersion to 5.2.115.0

6. Then delete the "SilentUpdate" registry entirely.
7. Block the following .exe files in your antivirus provider's firewall rules -

C:\Program Files\Alienware\Alienware Command Center\AWCCServiceLauncher.exe
C:\Program Files\Alienware\Alienware Command Center\AWCC.Service.exe
C:\Program Files\Alienware\Alienware Command Center\AWCC.Background.Server.exe

Hi @grey  welcome to this user to user discussion forum. This is not Dell Support.

Updating to AWCC v5.3.2.0 is a very well known problem and Dell has failed to provide AlienFX 2.0 troubleshoot, or a standalone application that can get AWCC FX tab working.

The long standing user to user advice is not to install the AWCC v5.3.2.0 update, when the factory installed version of AWCC is fully functional.

You might get lucky if Revo Uninstaller Free is used to remove updated AWCC (and OC Controls) and its advanced scan is then used to remove the multiple files, folders, and/or Registry entries left on your system. Restart (not Shut Down). Install the factory AWCC version that you know works. Restart (not Shut Down). Run AWCC and wait for it to get OC Controls so that AWCC Fusion tab works. If automatically installed or asked to install OC Controls, remember to Restart (not Shut Down).

Having just unboxed and started setting up the Alienware m15 Ryzen Edition R5, you are at liberty to use your Dell account to ask Dell Support to create a Service Request for you, so that Dell knows there is a problem to fix. Dell Support can then get your AWCC v5.3.2.0 to work for you. (Many users would like to know how to fix this problem.) If the same fault cannot be fixed on three separate occasions, within first 30 days, it is Dell policy is to give you new replacement system that works.

If Alienware m15 Ryzen Edition R5 has a fault within first 30 days, you can use Service Request process to Reject and then wait for Dell to authorise delivery of new replacement system that works. Dell Refund policy, New vs Refurbished

I have just reset windows & the factory v5.2.115.0 has enabled the keyboard lights but won't let me change anything since everytime I open it, it starts "Upgrading Components" and then installs and repeat.

Hi @grey  thank you for sharing update.

Not sure how to stop automatic AWCC updates. Could try going to AWCC folder, right click on file and change AWCC v5.2.115.0 file attributes to read only. I do not know enough about what is required to pause or turn off automatic AWCC updates.

Have a look at Solved: AWCC, downloading and updating components - Dell Community to see if this works for you.

Thanks for the additional info crimson. But I have already tried that and a hundred other things along the way but the permanent  re-downloading horror is just unstoppable at this moment. I will post an update as soon as I figure this out. This is unacceptable for a laptop this pricey and from a brand I trusted.

Hi @DELL-Chris M  does Dell have an official process for customers/users to pause or turn off automatic AWCC updates? Is it as simple as changing the AWCC automatic update service to never run?

Thank you in anticipation. Kind regards.

Hi @grey thank you for sharing update.

At the end of this thread, there is a registry edit that claims to prevent Alienware Command Center from auto-updating: How to prevent Command Center from auto-updating? | Alienware Arena

There is another similar registry edit fix: Guide: How to block Alienware Command Center from automatically updating | NotebookReview

There are manual instructions to stop the AWCCService: Incompatible software (magicutilities.net), but stopping the AWCCService does disable some or all functionality in the "Alienware Command Center".

I have never seen one. Correct, just changing the automatic update service is the only workaround I have seen.
