Problems can arise if the Dell AWCC application is not fully uninstalled before new AWCC update is installed. Advocate using Revo Uninstaller Free to delete AWCC followed by Advanced Scan that will remove all the leftover data. Download Revo Uninstaller Free - Remove unwanted programs easily
You purchased the Cherry MX with per-key Alien FX lighting keyboard. I see it shipped back in April 2021. Are you saying that you never could change the keybard brightness?
Have you entered the BIOS- Advanced and made sure that Chassis Color (Light or Dark), Keyboard Language, and Keyboard Color (Light or Dark) are correct?
Did you press FN + F12 to Enable Alien FX? Then open AWCC FX?
It used to work however it doesn’t now i do have access to the alien head and backing plate but not keyboard lighting FN f12 seems to do nothing at all. However the laptop has been serviced under warranty multiple times even had motherboard replaced after technician broke it during service of screen. Also i have not entered bios
For more information I’m second owner original purchased by my best friend who sold it to me in order too build a desktop. The keyboard lights still do their rgb cycle i just have no control.
so after reinstalling AWCC i opted to run REVO a second time following your instructions to a T, after reinstalling AWCC i now have full control over my keyboard lighting. my best assumption is the first time i may have missed a folder during selection phase as i did so manually this time using select all and delete did the trick. Thanks so much for your help!!

AWCC Features Matrix says m17 R4 has Alien FX 2.0 which has no repair option (unlike Alien FX 1.0) Alienware Command Center Quick Guide | Dell US

You have to fill out the Service Tag ownership transfer form to get it into your name.

unfortunately running revo with advanced selected removing all associated files and reinstalling did not solve the issue
