Speaking of which, how does one find out about the security rollups? I've never received notification about them, and sometimes Support asks why I haven't applied it. Other than ETAs, I never hear about them.

An EMC Security Advisory (ESA) is normally sent out when a new rollup is released.

Why are you trying to install such old security rollups? The latest rollup is 2014-Q4.

Installing an 18 month old security release on top of a 3 week old version of the software is likely to end very badly. For example, it's very likely that installing the old security rollup has replaced the kernel on the system with a version that has a flaw in the XFS driver that can trigger a kernel panic.
I would recommend that you get in touch with support to review the health of this system and get the latest security rollup installed.
