Sun Solaris Bare Metal Restore?
A DBA on our team asked if this was possible. I cant seem to find any documentation on if this is possible or not?
Does anyone know?
We are using Avamar 6.1.187 with Data Domain...no Networker or anything like that.

Perhaps no BMR for Solaris, but a simple recovery scenario can be engineered that uses Avamar.
For ufs based systems I use fssnap to create ufsdump files for /, /usr, /var, /opt and store them in a /DR directory that is backed up by avamar. For zfs machines, a zfs snapshot and send to the /DR partition.
I rely on jumpstart to make a machine network accessible and then restore the system using the mounted NFS filesystem with your previously created dump or zfs filesystems. Really no third party product is even needed.
All other non system data could then be restored via avamar.
