FAST Cache missing in Unisphere
Has anyone else experienced an issue with their FAST Cache disappearing from Unisphere? It intermittently disappears from both of our CX4-480 arrays after upgrading to the latest .524 Flare. I'm noticing at the same times that it is missing, our 3rd party statistics collector shows 'no statisticts' for our FAST Pools.

There is a support only primus which documents this issue emc289297
There is a workaround which support can assist you carry out to resolve this issue "temporarily"
This issue is going to be resolved in a later release of Flare Code on both VNX and CLARiiON
This does not affect the usage of fast cache and is primarily a display issue

We can try re-committing FLARE as well as the FASTCache (if needed) but down time is recommended for this activity and it is also done by EMC Personnel.
I would recommend to Open an SR with EMC Technical Support specifying the issue.

The array was upgraded from FLARE 28 or 29 recently?

Hi,
If there was no upgrade or changes performed on the Array,
Try restarting the management server of SPA and SPB, one after the other.
Logout of Unisphere and Login, Check the status.
Thanks

Can you please, upload the screenshot of SP Properties and if possible naviseccli ndu -list output?!

I restarted the management server for both SPA and SPB last week. It immedietely resolved the issue, but the issue then returned about a day later.

No. We were running 04.30.000.5.517 and upgraded to 04.30.000.5.524 on both of our arrays. Since then this issue has been occurring on both.

Indeed. What is the current status of FAST Cache? Is it showing correctly or incorrectly?
ndu -list mentions it is Enabled so my guess would be it should so correctly.
If not, then the steps I mentioned might need to be performed.
If you are getting this issue intermittently, if Possible when it shows incorrectly is it possible you can check the same on different workstation? Java does act weird at times!

Thanks, I've reopened my SR. When Support called me back to take a look, FAST Cache was showing correctly again. Makes it hard to troubleshoot, but I'll keep trying. It's interesting that the same issue is occuring on both of our CX4-480 arrays.

Hi,
Same problem here. FAST cache is in the N/A state after Flare OS upgrade from 04.30.000.5.517 to 04.30.000.5.524 (CX4-240 array).
When I restart the Management Server on both SP FAST cache is back in "enabled" state for couple of hours. This is only temporary solution or workaround because after couple of hours FAST cache state is N/A again. I think this is a bug in Flare OS code.
I also opened a SR.
Regards.

For the info... I just received a note on my Service Request:
"As per the Primus, a future service pack for VNX OE for Block and for CLARiiON FLARE will include a fix. The dates for these are unknown at this time."
Regards.

As you mentioned you have already opened a SR. Please, mention you are facing this issue after FLARE upgrade.
As GearoidG correctly, mentioned we do have support only Knowledge Base which should fix this problem.
However, from personal experience I would request you to schedule an offline activity as this procedure requires a reboot and at times series of reboots and both SP reboot at the same time.
In a gist to brief you about the process, we would be recommitting the FLARE OS and/or FAST Cache enabler, if required.
Not required, ndu -list is already provided and he did mention that FAST is working wonky! At times, it shows Enabled and some times N/A.

The correct process to be followed here is to ask support to review the primus,
The work around does not require an offline window or any reboots of an SP
The fix will be in a future release of Flare code on both VNX and CLARiiON so an NDU upgrade would be required to get the fix.
