SR generation from EMC E-mail home
Our CX4 arrays recently transitioned from Dell support to EMC support. As part of the transition, our monitoring template now emails EMC. We tested the new template and I can see SR's generated by the test event (symptom code 2004).
Recently our array has emailed EMC several times for event 0x715d000 RLSEvent occurred on Bus 0. These events do not generate SR's.
My original thinking was that ALL emails to EMC would auto-generate an SR. But now I am thinking that there is some filtering done at EMC and not all events generate SRs.
Can someone explain to a newbie what exactly happens at EMC when an E-mail home is received?

EMC Email Home is a facility where EMC gets notified for any activity on CLARiiON. In order to get EMC Notified about Events on the Storage System you will need to configure EMC Email/Dial Home Template. Once, you fill in the details and depending up on which alerts you have chosen to get EMC notified it creates an SR.
As far as I reckon, no SR is except Test SR & Hot Spare Kicked in gets auto cancelled.

There is some filtering that happens at EMC for certain events - the RLSEvents are ones that do not always generate an SR. The RLS eent is an informational message that indicates a change (delta change) from the last counter to the new counter. The filter will generate an SR if a certain threshhold is passed for these messages. There are other events that have this same critria - if an events passes a threshhold (number of events/day or per device) then an SR will be created. These filters are all based on engineering data.
