DART 5.6 - Celerra Administrators within Active Directory?

Are there any documents out there explaining the process for setting up the domain settings to use Active Directory user accounts as Celerra Administrators? We are running DART 5.6.

Thanks,
Chris

Hi, Chris.

As Rainer said check out the primer he linked to.

It can sometimes be a little tricky to figure out the correct LDAP paths when first linking the Celerra control station to active directory...especially if you aren't involved in the AD administration or are unfamiliar with LDAP. For this reason we've created an appendix in the 5.6 Celerra Security Configuration Guide that explains how to determine the correct paths. See Appendix B.

The guide can be found here: http://powerlink.emc.com/km/live1/en_US/Offering_Technical/Technical_Documentation/300-004-189.pdf

Once you find the correct LDAP path you're good to go. Just set up the groups to govern your administrators (if not already in AD), and create domain-mapped group accounts for them in Celerra Manager. You'll add users into the groups through AD.

There's also a "Configure the use of an external directory server..." section that contains an overview of how to set up the relationship. You'll input the actual values into Celerra Manager and the online help that Rainer mentioned will help explain those fields.

Cheers.

Hi Chris,

if you mean just who is allowed to use mmc from a Windows client - just put the users into the Celerra Administrators local group using mmc or user manager.

If you mean using Windows accounts for the Celerra Manager GUI look at this white paper:
http://powerlink.emc.com/km/live1/en_US/Offering_Technical/White_Paper/H4423-emc-celerra-5.6-tchncl-primer-dirctry-based-admin-user-authn-wp.pdf

The steps required should be described in the Celerra Manager online help (also available on the Celerra documentation CD)

regards
Rainer

Thanks for the help. I just got everything hooked into AD. Now, on to my next question :)...
