CIFS Access to Centera
HI,
We have a Centera in combination with Symantec Enterprise Vault.
Work fine, but for a new project we need a simple data dump solution.
Like a CIFS GW or NFS GW, that we can use to just write data to, and get it back.
I read about CUA, but it looks like a product that is more than just a GW.
Is there no simple CIFS2Centera software or device?
Thanks.
Robert

There is only 2 ways in order to write to centera:
Using archive software solution using Centera API or using a self devloppement.
CUA is Simple GW for CIFS/NFS access should correspond for your use.
FMA is also a GW for using in combination with celerra or netapp for file server.

Robert,
The CUA was designed to do exactly what you are needing. It is a "gateway" that allows non-CAS-aware software (that is, software that is not written specifically to use the Centera API) to write to a Centera. It presents a CIFS or NFS mount to the host application. The CUA itself manages writing the data out to the Centera and keeping track of the pointers that map the Content Address on the CUA.
When using a CUA, you map a share to your server just like any other share in your network.

Hi Robert
As you are already operating EV. You could use Fileserver Archiving from EV to achieve your target. Have your data written to a share on a server where EV FSA is running. Then define the rules to move to Centera.
