ISCSI via FCIP Port ???

I want to use ISCSI from our workstations to connect to our Symmetrix's. We only use the workstations to run symcli commands and have no storage attached. We have multiple symmetrix's and workstations that we use to manage them. Rather than installing HBA's in all the workstations I would rather use ISCSI to execute commands.

Has anybody tried this yet and if so how hard was it to setup?

Done! It worked like a charm. I mounted up a drive on my workstation on a CX700 on the otherside of the US via iSCSI and tested some symcli commands against a symm on the other side of the US.

Very cool stuff.

Your response time is probably geologically slow.

Yes, it is pretty cool but it is also slower than other options. Setup is pretty straight forward as long as you have good directions and understand some IP. One key is to make sure you don't put the iSCSI connection on the same subnet as the management port (MGT0).

Thank you.
