Can we Replace SATA HDD with SAS HDD

Hi

I am have some question regarding HDD replacement, details are as under:

1 -    In EMC NX4 if SAS HDD fail can we replace with SATA HDD?

2 -   In EMC CX Serise Stoare if FC HDD Fail and SATA HDD Configure as HotSpare, Is it possible that SATA HDD take the place of FC HDD?

I will appriciate for your response.

With thanks & regards

In a diskpool/raidgroup you cannot mix drive types.

This means a SATA drive cannot replace a SAS drive or vice versa. On the NX4 (which has an  AX4-5F8 for it's storage) you can mix SATA and SAS in an enclosure.

With the CX-series (including CX3 and CX4 series) you cannot mix FC and SATA drives in a single enclosure.

On the CX-series the same applies to hotspares; FC hotspares won't take over for SATA drives and SATA hotspares won't take over for FC drives.
