Equallogic HDD/SSD upgrade - module type 7

hi everyone :)

I hoping I can upgrade drives in my Equallogic. Would you know if any >1TB drives are available & certified for such an upgrade?

Where do you usually get drives from if you upgrade?

many thanks, L.

Hello,

The largest qualified drive for the PS6000E was a 1TB.  The drives have to have a specific Dell/EQL signature to function, you can not use off-the-shelf OEM drives in Dell PS Series SANs.   Using larger drives from newer model arrays could yield unpredictable results.  I would suggest you not try.

Don

Yours is a comprehensive answer and as such a horrible news. These PS65xx are such a nice kits that it breaks my heart to see them waste away.

I remember years ago I successfully flashed a Seagate 2TB NL drives (as it was the same model used by Dell) with Dell firmware, however these were not in an Equallogic box, but otherwise they worked okey.

Hello,

Sorry for the bad news.  They are great systems.  I had a very early production 5500 in my lab until recently, they finally made me give it up. :)

Don
