Data Domain Replication

Hello,

I Have three datadomain DD4200 on 3 diffrent site , each DD4200 have OPTION,DD 10GBE,IO MODULE,OP SFP,2PORT.

This port will be used to do replication between the DD4200, On the SAN switch MDS 9000 we have these two module : Cisco MDS 9000 Family 16-Port Storage Services Node and Cisco MDS 9000 Family 18/4-Port Multiservice Module, that module support iSCSI and FCIP my question are these ports can be used to replicate the DD4200 ?

Many thanks,

AZNIDI Youssef

Replication between DDs uses IP so you would use pure IP ports.  FCIP port you mentioned is FC over IP and it is normally intended for different use (see Cisco MDS 9000 SAN Extension over IP Package).

That switch is overkill. Maybe you could consider another lower level switch. I will suggest Cisco 2960 series. Replication between Data Domain only send deduplication data, transmitted via IP, and built to save bandwidth for replication.
