VTL Questions for DD4200

Hi

We are implementing VTL on a DD4200 to try and have some questions on the configuration.

1) If we want 100gb tapes we can create LTO1 or LTO4(100gb) tapes - what is the preference for choosing one over the other?

2) FC Zoning, as per recommendations we will use a single host hba port in a zone with a single data domain system port.

As there are 2 ports in the data domain will the host recognise the tape drive as a single tape drive with 2 separate paths?

1) None. It is virtual.  Different tape type exist to support different application/driver requirements from hosting/application side. With that in mind, most likely you would go for newer type, but performance wise (or DD wise) it would be the same.

2) This is mostly up to the host and in most cases application using it as those will check WWNN/WWNP or serial numbers and then figure out that multiple paths are used for same drive when data is identical.
